We all have our trusted make-up routine we stick to but what works in colder months might melt or look downright odd in the heights of summer. Make sure you don’t compromise on looking hot in summer with this clever make-up product swap.
Summer Blusher & Bronzer
Powder blushers and bronzers often contain shimmer particles, which make you look far too sparkly in the strong summer light. Opt for light, budge-proof textures like bronzer gels, cheek tints and melt-proof cream blush sticks.

Summer Skin
Heavy foundations are a liability in the heat and unnecessary when you’re sunning yourself outdoors. You can hide and correct any imperfections with a clever eye brightener/concealer and add luminosity with a lightweight tinted moisturiser, BB cream or CC cream.

Summer Eyes
Anything goes in terms of the colour under the warm summer light. You don’t have to compromise on your favourite hues but trick is to make them last by the beach ‘til the sun goes down. Make it pop with acid colours or revel in soft shades but don’t forget to apply a waterproof base under your chosen eye shadow. Pick a neutral or matching colour of waterproof eyeliner for a ‘pow’ factor. Cream-to-powder eye shadow does the trick too, then layer up the final colour on top.

Summer Lips
Lip stains and lip tints are the buzz words you need to embrace in the summer sun. They contain wax and are your melt-proof weapons with a staying power. If you can’t bare parting with your favourite lipstick, line and fill your lips with a nude colour pencil first. (Alternatively use a lip pencil closely matching your natural lip colour first.) Then apply lipstick and blot with a tissue paper and dust a translucent powder over it to ensure lasting effect.
Top Tip: Apply lip stain first, then pop a lipstick next and blot. Double the power!
