Side-Swept Retro Waves

Celebrities rocked all sorts of fabulous hair-dos at this year’s Golden Globes but one seemed to be particularly favoured by the stars. Get the red carpet hairstyle of the moment with these simple steps.

1. Wash and blow-dry your hair with a paddle brush. For fine hair, add some volume mousse if you need to.

2. With a comb, create a desirable side parting that suits your face and pin the top of the heavier side of the hair.

3. Start curling the section right above your ear with a 1” curling wand. It’s important you hold the curling wand horizontally and wrap-curl the hair forward, towards your face.

4. Make sure you create each curl same as the previous one for that cascaded vintage look. After curling each section, use hairpins to hold each curl in place to cool down.

5. After you’ve curled all sections, blast hair all over with a hairdryer on cool setting for 2 minutes to help set the curls.

6. Remove the hairpins and either brush out curls with a fine comb or a paddle brush for loosened look. Fix with a strong hold hairspray. Use little serum to disguise any flyaway hair.

Tip: Curling wand should be set on the heat setting for your type of hair and for the lasting result, instead of holding the curled section longer, unravel it and curl it again!
