Milan Fashion Week kicks off with Gucci
Top fashion house, Gucci opened Milan Fashion Week with an eye-catching Japanese-inspired collection this week.
The Italian brand showcased a line of pyjama suits, which are designed to be used for evening wear, containing Japanese-style wallpaper and snakeskin patterns, bell sleeves and ruffled necklines also featured dresses in striking pink, yellow and blue colours as part of their spring/summer 2013 collection.
Gucci’s Creative Director Frida Giannini explained: "These are portraits of aristocratic women, evoking a strong allure with a clean, precise, defined aesthetic."
Alberta Ferretti also presented its latest spring/summer 2013 designs on the catwalk with an array of floor-length nude, blue and turquoise summer gowns as well as simple black and white evening wear dresses.
Alberta said: "It's a summer dream. It's a collection for the woman who craves liberty, movement and light. The silhouette is simple but the embroidery creates a luminous glow and the layering gives an impression of floating."
Another fashion power-houses including Versace, Moschino and Etro are due to strut their stuff today.
