Michael Van Der Ham creates knitwear Brora collection
British designer Michael Van Der Ham has created a one-off 12-piece knitwear collection for luxury Scottish cashmere brand ‘Brora’.
He said: "I knew about Brora's high-quality knitwear and how all their production is in Scotland. I really love working on knitwear and it was great to focus so much on full cashmere pieces. Normally for me, knits are part of a much bigger collection of wovens too."
The collection - which includes jumpers, scarves, cardigans, hats and a tweed-and-silk pencil skirt - was inspired by Brora's archive, in particular its 30s knits and patterns.
Michael added to Vogue.co.uk: "I always like the trying out of ideas, even if we don't end up using it all. From trialling different techniques or shapes, it's always fun to develop your original ideas and see them transform and progress."
Brora's collaboration with Michael is the second time they have worked with a luxury designer.
Previous year, another British designer Louise Gray also worked with the ‘Brora’ label whose celebrity fans include Kate Moss, Claudia Schiffer, Lily Allen and Jerry Hall.
