Giles Deacon wants fun with fashion
The designer Giles Deacon says he has big plans for the future but admits the most important thing is to enjoy himself.
He said: "I'd love to open a couple of stores and see the whole Giles world together. Our couture client base is also growing - I was just out in New York, where we sold really well. In the space of 15 minutes, customers can decide to drop upwards of $30,000. Apart from that, I guess I just want to carry on having fun with my friends. I remember Tom Ford saying: 'The best bit of advice I can give to you is work hard and be nice to people.' I can't imagine it being any other way."
Despite his success, Giles insists he will never be a diva and can't understand why people would ever act like that.
He told Britain's Grazia magazine: "I find the idea of the gilded cage - pampered designer sitting in his ivory tower - really dated. That unapproachability is nuts. When people start being like that, I'm like, 'Get a grip.' "
