Fashion genius Tom Ford welcomes a son

Former creative director of Gucci, Tom Ford and his long-term partner Richard Buckley have announced the birth of their first child, Alexander John Buckley Ford, who was born in Los Angeles on September 23.

Love Magazine broke the news by tweeting: "Congratulations to Tom Ford and Richard Buckley who have announced the birth of their son Alexander John Buckley Ford."

Tom's representative has since confirmed the statement but little is known about the baby. It is believed that the baby boy was born via a surrogate mother.

The talented designer and film director, Tom Ford always kept to himself whenever the question of having children popped up but insisted he would never use any child as a "press tool" and would keep them out of the spotlight.

He said in 2011: "If I have children, no one will know about it until the child is born. And no one will ever see the child because I certainly wouldn't use it as a press tool. If I have a child, you won't notice that I had a child. Maybe you'll see it when it's 18, but I will keep it out of the spotlight."
