Master your home hair colouring like a pro with these simple tips.
1. Do an allergy patch test with your chosen colour product 2 weeks before.
2. Get your hair in top condition with deep-conditioning treatments prior to hair colouring.
3. Don’t wash the hair the day before the hair dye application as the natural oils help protect the scalp.
4. On the day, apply Vaseline around the hairline, top of ears and nape of the neck to prevent staining from the colour.
5. Pick your new shade within three shades of your natural hue of your hair, it looks the best and complements your natural colouring.
6. Do you look best in gold jewellery? Pick a warm new colour. Does your skin light up in silver jewellery instead? Opt for cool tones.
7. Work the colour through the mid-lengths and ends in small sections and use clips to keep sections that are not done yet out of the way.
