Designer Bella Freud to create knitwear collection for Barbour
The 51-year-old designer has teamed up with the British heritage brand to come up with a "stylish and elegant" capsule range which will feature an array of hooded sweaters, fitted jumpers and oversized dresses and has been designed to reflect Bella's "witty take on her signature limited edition pieces".
She said: "I met [Barbour's] new womenswear director, Sarah Lawrenson, who has a very creative approach to business and design.
"It seemed like it would be interesting and fun to work together and explore what I could do."
Bella is hoping to inspire her "style-obsessed 12-year-old son" as well as "stylish women and girls" to wear her latest creations, which will be available in stores ready for autumn next year.
Speaking about the range, she added to Vogue.co.uk: "I liked thinking about country-ish things and how those kind of images might appeal to London girls and country girls. My favourite piece is a red hoodie with a black-and-white rabbit on it. It is a bit like a Bauhaus version of the Velveteen Rabbit. I love it."
Barbour has also confirmed two other collaborations for its autumn/winter 2013-14 collection including a partnership with Savile Row tailor, Norton & Sons, which has been described as a "smart, clean look". The organisation will also work with men's range Beacon Heritage.
