Chanel and Valentino showed spring/summer 2013 collection

Fashion fever ran high with Chanel and Valentino taking centre stage at Paris Fashion Week.

The iconic French brand and their creative genius Karl Lagerfeld - showcased at the Grand Palais in the French capital their spring/summer 2013 creations.

The Chanel shows in recent years have all been nothing short of spectacular, with British singers Lily Allen and Florence Welch previously performing and themes including post-apocalypse, underwater and crystal rock formations.

Another fashion label Hakaan sadly had to cancel his show due to disappearance of his collection.

Karl Lagerfeld has been recently making headlines thanks to his outspoken remarks about various celebrities, including Britain's Duchess Catherine - also known as Kate Middleton - and her sister Pippa Middleton, even their mother Carole Middleton.

He said: "Kate Middleton has a nice silhouette and she is the right girl for that boy, I like that kind of woman, I like romantic beauties. On the other hand, her sister struggles. I don't like the sister's face. She should only show her back."

He continued about their mother: "I think Carole is very sexy. I think the mother is sexier than the daughters. There is something full of life about her. For a woman who must be 50 or so, I think she's great. Full of energy."
