Using the correct foundation for your skin type is the alpha and omega of looking good. These helpful tips will make sure you’re spot on with your choice!
1. Determine your skin type
Oily, dry or combination skin type? Best to see it in the morning, when you wake up. If it’s shiny, than it’s oily, if it’s feels a little tight or looks matte, you have dry skin and shiny T-zone is a combination skin.
2. Pick foundation for you skin type
For oily skin, look for key words like ‘oil-free’ or ‘mattifying’ foundation. If you skin lacks in moisture and it’s dry, seek a foundation with hydrating properties, enriched with vitamins A and E. Cream-to-powder bases work best for combination skin.
3. Match foundation to your skin tone
Make sure you have plenty of natural light to see if you matched the tones correctly. Test your preferred foundation either on your cheekbones with vertical stripe or your nose and jawline. The foundation that virtually disappears into the skin is the right for you.
4. Coverage and undertones
Most foundations are now made to flatter our skin tones and unless you are really fair-skinned, cool type, choose a foundation with yellow undertones. Apply lightly and build-up gradually for the best result, whether you choose light or medium coverage type of foundation.
Remember, your foundation should only correct and enhance your skin, not to mask it.
